Following the recent publication of A- and AS-Level results, newspapers have been typically quick to feature stories about students’ academic successes – or failures. Today the Daily Mail writes about a student who failed to secure himself a place reading chemistry at Oxford despite having seven top A Level grades.
As many commenters have noted, what this story actually demonstrates is that there is more to the application process than JUST grades. The personal statement and interview are extremely important. Each will give the admissions officers a taste of what one is like as a person and as a potential student.
Well done to all our A Level students reading this post!
